hello there, bicycle part deux...

Hi.

Guess what? Its 1:39 am. And I'm wide awake. Surprised? Probably not. I wish I was sleeping right now though. I really really do. My house has been messy for a week and I keep saying I'm going to clean it and then I keep being a bum. Husband is so sweet though, he just says "don't worry hun, its not dirty and you deserve to do whatever makes you happy." I love him. But really, the missionaries are coming over tomorrow evening and its my last day off before the work cycle starts up again, so I really really need to get it done.

We had a fun weekend. Friday, we had dinner and watched some TV. Husband was burnt out from the work week but I was jonesin to get out of the house so I decided to get a new new bike. This wasn't spur of the moment. After purchasing our first pair of bikes I started doing some research on them and found out that they were no bueno for what we needed. We had bought mountain bikes but should have bought hybrids. So after A LOT of research I found us some Schwinn's. Yay! We were going to go do the returning/purchasing on Saturday but I couldn't wait. So off I went!

After sleeping in till 5pm on Saturday (yes you read that right) we went out and got husbands new bike and all the fixins! And even thought it was a rare, cold and rainy night, we just HAD to take them out for a ride. Bliss! I seriously think we have found a new hobby.

In fact, Sunday we were still so excited about the bikes we got up and rode them to get breakfast. 15 miles! Holy cow! Our buns were hurtin but we were so happy we did it. And I loved spending the day with him. Its not too often that we both have the whole day to spend together so I treasure the times we do.

BTW I have vowed to take more pictures of our lives. I'm missing out on way to many magical moments! In the meantime you'll have to settle for these stock photos of our bikes.
Bye!

So fun huh! I kinda want to make mine a little more vintagey by getting a brown leather seat, brown handle bars and white tires. Also, sadly, my derailer isn't red but thats ok. I still love it to death!

hello there, bicycle....

I'm up at 3:30 am for two reasons.
1) I started my new job at the hospital where I work the night shift. I was supposed to work tonight but they called me off and in an attempt to not throw my sleep schedule off completely, as I have to work the next couple of days, I'm trying to stay up.
2) I'm on exercise induced endorphin high! This morning we got up and hiked SanTan Mountain with our friends Drew and Laura. It was the perfect not-too-easy-not-too-hard hike. And then this evening, in a moment of pure spontaneity, we bought his and her's mountain bikes.

We have both mentioned on several occasions how much we'd like to have bikes cause there are so many trails to ride around here so we are VERY excited to have them. We had to pat ourselves on the back cause we mapped our first ride and found out we went 7.5 miles! Quite good for two people who are out of shape!

hello, there minimal cinema

I don't remember how but, during some very fortuitous web surfing, I stumbled across this little treasure of a site and am totally smitten. Its called minimal movie posters and is basically a collection of lots of different graphic designers re-designed movie posters.

And its awesome.

My husband and I poured over the images forever and had fun picking out our favorite ones. We both tended to be partial to the ones that used some intelligent humor for their artwork selection and that had a vintage flare.
These are submitted by a large variety of people so not all of them are readily for sale but with a little digging you can probably get your grubby paws on the one you want. We were even able to order a couple we really loved! Here are some of our favorites:

It was hard to even narrow it down to these few!

enjoy!

hello there, Gimp..

First, you should know this is my first attempt at blogging from my phone. Which means the combination of my phone and the speech to text recognition this should be finished in no time flat.

The speech to text comes in very handy given my current situation. Long story short I broke my middle left finger in such a way that it was pointing way far off to the left. I had to get surgery to straighten it out and my entire left hand is now wrapped up like a giant boxing glove. So there won't be a whole lot of blogging going on until I have two hands to type again.

On a happier note I bought johns valentines day present which has sort of a funny story that I'll tell you about next time.

Bye!

Hello there, dream city

Have I ever mentioned my extreme love affair with New York City? Its bad. Like, first crush bad. From the moment I stepped foot into that beautiful chaotic abyss I knew this was exactly where I was meant to live. Unfortunately so do 8 million other people. Really. I googled it.

Why am I talking about New York right now? Because, right this very minute my family back east is getting dumped on by a mother snow storm. And I am insanely jealous. Meanwhile I am sitting here in Arizona with a short sleeved sweater on and wishing that we would have a real winter. Or at least some rain to change things up a bit. But alas, I live in the desert. Home of the countries most boring weatherman job ever. "Today it will be sunny and hot." Repeat times, forever.

So all this wishing for snow and wanting to live back east again got me thinking about my dream land NYC and the thought occured to me. Why not? No, really. Why can't we live there? Once I graduate school that is. We have no children and no real reason to stay in Arizona. We are young, (will) both have careers that will let us work anywhere we want so why can't we live in NYC. So I text my hubs and asked him if this...and this... and this... then....can we? And you know what he said. YES
He said yes!!!! I feel like I just proposed. Granted, his yes was more of a "if it's right and there is nothing keeping us here, then yes" But its a yes just the same. And so, I am happy. And dreaming of living in a tiny little closet of an apartment in the best city in the world.

Until then, I'll continue doing what is taking up my free time at the moment. Figuring out how I can get my hair to dry like this two times in a row. No really! I went running with wet hair and when I came back it looked shockingly good! Weird!

(By the way I made my sweater. You can't see it very well. But I promise. It's cute.)

Hello there, 2011!

Clearly I'm not the best when it comes to keeping up on this blog. I’ve already announced I would be blogging more often. And well.... But don't fret. I am here. And I am trying again. And isn’t' that really the point? To keep trying. No matter how many times you fail you have to keep trying. And that’s just what I'm doing. Again.

How have I been? Sadly, the same.

We celebrated our first Christmas as a married couple and it was marvelous. We spent Christmas eve at the hubs parents house with the rest of his siblings and their families. That is their Christmas day. Let me state that that is the most presents I’ve ever seen. Ever. And it was a total present opening free-for-all. It was crazy and chaotic but I loved every second of it and of spending my most favoritest holiday with my new family.

Christmas day we ate pancakes, opened presents, went to his brother’s house, played with the kids and our new toys, then left and had a very fancy Christmas dinner at Carl’s Jr. before going to see Tron in IMAX 3D.

That’s right, we had Christmas dinner at Carl’s Jr. It wasn’t planned but had already bought our movie tickets and couldn’t stay for dinner at his brothers and there is NOTHING open on Christmas day sooo….. Carl’s Jr. it was. I’ll always look back on it and laugh but I promise it won’t happen again. J

Btw can I just say, in comparison to the east coast, winter is really a joke here. I mean I think I’ve needed a coat all of ONE time. And yet I’m constantly hearing people complaining about the cold. Wimps.

NO. I did not start school. And no I do not want to talk about it. Other than the fact that if you should happen to read in the news that a school in Arizona burned down… well…

But in other more fun news we have decided on our one year anniversary trip. Where are we going? EUROPE!!!!! More specifically, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovakia, and Poland!!!!! Feel free to be jealous. Hah! We are traveling with my parents who are avid world travelers and are going to teach us their traveling secrets! Double yay!

Here’s some happy shots of us

Our little chunkster Sundae had her pre-op appt on Monday where we found out that she outgrew her heart murmer (YAY!!!) and also gained a whopping 5 lbs in the last two months! Thats more than double her size! Someone needs to lay off the treats.

Sitting by the fire at Tempe Marketplace enjoying some Froyo in the dead of winter. Ha!

And, because we (I) were feeling homesick, went went and got Philly cheesesteaks! And they were delish!

Till next time !

Hello there, my most favorite time of the year!

Its the Christmas Season!!!!!!
(can you tell I'm excited?)
And so that means its time to decorate cause its important that it feels like Christmas at my house. Even more exciting is that its our first Christmas as husband and wife in our home which means.....
we have a whole lot of nothing to decorate with. After trolling the web for a very long short time I have found lots of great things!

Inspired? I am! If you didn't already pick up on it, Im loving mixed metalics with varying shades of blues. It will match my house and the colors are vintage chic which I love!
