hello there, Europe...

I thought I'd blog a little something for you while I gather, upload, organize and edit the 4789 photos I took while we were on vacation .

Ten things I LOVED about Europe;

1.) Gelato stands. My favorite is Lemon and pistachio. (not together)
2.) Fairy tale like little villages complete with cobblestone streets, pink and blue houses, and rolling hills of green.
3.) Peonies growing in everyone's garden.
4.) Public transportation; metros, buses, subways, and bikes. So much better than driving.
5.) Tons of history and culture. Its impossible not to learn something new everyday.
6.) Amazing architecture all over the city.
7.) Castles. Lots of castles.
8.) THE FOOD. Pastry shops, Kebabs, and traditional cultural food everywhere.
9.) Open air markets with fresh produce, food, and trinkets galore.
10.) Water with gas.

City street in Prague. I mean really, isn't this gorgeous!

Which brings me to...

10 Things I love about America:

1.) Free ketchup.
2.) Firm pillows.
3.) More than eight ounces to drink and free refills.
4.) One currency.
5.) Not having the washing machine in the kitchen, or bathroom.
6.) Credit cards are accepted everywhere.
7.) Napkins.
8.) Clothes dryers
9.) Prompt food and attentive waiters.
10.) Washcloths

hello there, Melk....

Day 5

Melk, Austria.

Melk is even more quaint than Cesky Krumlov. And the drive there is breathtaking. Especially this time of year because there are hundreds of fields of yellow mustard that seem to burst against the bright blue skys which you saw in the last post.

And you know when we got to Austria I couldn't help but belt a few verses of The Sound of Music!

As soon as we got checked in we rented bikes and set off to do a 34 km bike ride starting in Melk. Then we were to hop on a ship and cruise down the Danube back to Melk again. The bike ride was breathtaking, we loved the view of the Danube to our right and the tiny towns and huge vineyards to our left. We stopped in Sptitz ( pron. Shpeets) Most of us loved it. But some of us (ahem Mom) got a little too sore in the rear and pooped out right before the end. So, instead of making it to the very end of the original ride we ended in Durnstein which turned out to be fortuitous because we found out the last boat had already left the town we were originally headed to.

White Lamb Hotel. How cute is the key? I'm thinking lambs may be making an appearance in our home. We'll see.

On the cruise down the Danube back to Melk. Bliss. Bliss. Bliss.

Town square in Melk.
So the Abby is ginormous and unless I had an SLR camera (ahem) there is no way I could capture the whole thing.

I couldn't get over the white painted tree trunks. It made the gardens for me.

The ceilings.

John wanted to feed the Koi. All I had was a Kashi fruit and nut bar sooooo......
I tried to take some pics inside the abby but my camera battery went caput so this is what you get.

hello there, pretty hex nuts...

So I found this DIY bracelet tutorial on honestly wtf and I could not resist running to my nearest hardware store to give it a go. I LOVE it. It inspired so many more fun pieces of jewlery that I can't wait to make but I had to show you the first one.

It took a little getting used to at first to get it going. I learned you have to hold the hex nut in place REALLY tight while you're braiding or else the whole thing will turn to crap fast. But stick with it. Its so worth it!

hello there, first anniversary...

Its our first anniversary.

One whole year of being married. I know in twenty years one will feel like nothing but right now, to me, it feels like everything.

What has changed since I've been married?

I enjoy housework. - I love cleaning "our" house.
I'm a homeowner.
I have two cats, Jax and Sundae, whom we both adore.
I'm outdoorsy. - I love to hike and run and ride bikes.
I don't sleep alone anymore. ;)
I'm a brunette. - Again, hair was falling out.
I'm more handy than my hubs. - shhhh hehe
I watch documentaries. On space. A lot.
I take vitamins.
I'm a resident of Arizona.
I paint. I sew. I craft. A Lot.
I'm Allison Weems

John, I love you more every day. You have helped me grow into the woman I have always wanted to be. I thank GOD for blessing me with such an amazing man to spend the rest of my life with.

hello there, glow...

I recently discovered a huge antique mall, conveniently located right down the road and it has tons and tons of stuff of in it. To give you an idea, it was my second time there, both times I have spent close to three hours perusing the wares and I still only saw about half of it.

There are so many things there that I love. And so many things that I think to myself "I like this but, what would I do with it?" Which often gets me thinking about all of the bloggers I read about who have a knack for it and can visualize things much better than I can.

But I did leave with one little beauty.

hello there, phillies...

While my family was in town the Phillies were too. So you know what that meant, a Phillies vs Diamondbacks or Olin vs Weems game was a must see. And boy did we have fun!
