Greetings and salutations!

Well hello there! Remember me? I'm that girl who used to blog about life up until I sold my soul for a nursing degree. But I'm on break and so I thought I'd check in and say hi. HI!

So whats new? A whole lot of nothing! That's right. I've been on break for a week and a half now and am happy to report I've done next to nothing the entire time. At first this bothered me a little (obviously not enough to do anything about it) cause before my break I had about a zillion things I wanted to do that had been put off due to lack of time. Primarily get my house painted and decorated. Neither of which have even been started. We did pull out the Christmas decorations and buy a rug for the living room which makes a huge difference. It feels so much more cozy now. But, other than that I haven't done much. I'm hoping to get a surge of energy after Christmas that will motivate me to get the painting done cause if I don't I can promise you it wont get done until I graduate. John is just as busy being the breadwinner now so asking him to squeeze in painting the entire downstairs by his lonesome isn't really fair. And why would it have to wait till I graduate? Well actually that is good news.

I got accepted to a campus closer to home!!!!! (cue angels singing and gas station attendants crying over massive losses) If you don't remember I was commuting almost an hour and half each way to school four days a week. OUCH! This campus is literally 5 minutes from home AND has an accelerated program, which I was accepted into, so that I now graduate a full semester earlier!!!!!!!!! For any of you who have been there since the beginning of my journey you'll know that I am well overdue for some good luck to come my way when it comes to school.

Last night we drove over to the Mesa temple to see the lights on a whim. It was both of our first time going there and we were so impressed with the display. It was beautiful!!!  I loved that they used colored lights everywhere instead of a bunch of white. There were a ton of people but not so many we couldn't stop for some pictures. We tried to stop for some hot chocolate after but it was closed so we went to the next best place, home.

Enjoy our blurry pics from our trip to the lights!

Not from the trip but I made homemade caramel candy it turned out soooo good!

This is the only pic of John! I was playing with a new app. Sorry hun!

We are both really looking forward to Christmas and I hope to keep you posted on what goes down at the Weem's house. Until then stay safe and warm and enjoy the rest of the season while it lasts!

A quick hello and a little teaser...

Hi everyone!

I'm still alive and shockingly doing well in school. For a while there I thought I was going to have to become a hairdresser or something but as luck would have it my brain has finally decided to cooperate and it has made all the difference in the world! Ha!

Nothing new with the house to report. Sadly, I haven't had a moment to do anything. My sweet husband doesn't either cause he encouraged me to quit my job so that I could really devote all my time to school and has taken on some extra "side work" to make up the difference.  Although I will gripe that my brand new dryer is already broken. Its being fixed but it doesn't make me feel very optimistic about its future. We'll see I guess.

On to the teaser!  Very soon here I will be taking on a personal challenge and blogging about my experience EVERY SINGLE DAY for a month! WOAH! I know I know, try not to wet yourself with excitement. I'm keeping the challenge a secret until I start so keep your eyes peeled for the next post. I can't give you an exact date of when it will start, I have to do some "studying" about it before I can really be ready but I will tell you that it has nothing to do with nursing school or interior decorating. So yay for a change in subject right?!

I haven't taken any pictures of me lately so you'll just have to deal with another picture of Jax. He is just the sweetest little butternut squash you ever did meet! He loves to be next to his mama at all times and so this is generally what its like when I'm at the computer trying to study.

He likes to hold hands. SO CUTE!!!!!
He's sound asleep. I tried moving my hand away several times but he would wake up and keep putting his paw back or adjust himself so he could keep holding hands with me.

Happy Halloween!

Last year, John and I were really excited to hand out candy for the first time from our own place. So we went out and bought a whole bunch of all the good stuff. You know, so we could be the "cool" neighbors. And guess how many trick-or-treaters we had?

ZERO

Not a single one. I know. We couldn't believe it either.

So naturally this year we were skeptical. I mean we DO live in a new neighborhood where half the houses aren't even built yet. But our house has auto light sensing porch lights that we can't turn off so I picked up a couple of bags anyway. You know. Just in case. And guess what?

Hunh. Guess we'll have to rethink our strategy next year.

ps. I can still hear kids coming up to the door and complaining when they see the sign.

Another victim of an indecisiveness...

For some time now I have been second guessing my pale blue/coral color scheme in my LR. I have been fighting it due to the simple fact that it was one of only two rooms that I had really settled on a design scheme for. But, the more I thought about it the more I realized there were a couple of thing that just didn't quite sit right with me about it. I thought the pale blue and pale pinky orange to be a tad juvenile for a home with zero children. It also really lends itself to a beach theme which is definitely not what I'm aiming for. And so I changed my mind. Not a lot but I did change it nonetheless.

Before I tell you what I changed it too, I'll tell you the convo I had with John about it:

Me: So I'm starting to rethink the blue and orange color scheme down here.
John: (look of reliefe on his face) Oh good! I was hoping you would. I didn't want to say anything cause I could see you loved it so much but I didn't like it.
Me: (now looking shocked and a tad worried) Really? You never even hinted.
John: I didn't want to hurt your feelings. And I figured if it made you happy then I'd be fine with it. But  I don't like the idea of the blue walls, I'd rather have something more neutral like a brown.
Me: Oh. (quickly trying to hide my magazine containing my inspiration picture)
John: Why what did you have in mind now?
Me: Ummm... never mind.
John: No show me I want to see it.
Me: Uh... ok.... but you're not going to like it.

*note the mint green/blue walls

John: (silence) I like this.
Me: But the walls are still pretty much blue. Just more of a mint blue. I just wanted to add green and navy instead of the coral.
John: Ya...I like it....I just want you to be happy with it.

What a great husband I have.

Some of my favorite ideas...

I know, I know. Its been forever since I lasted posted. But you know what? You're lucky you get anything at all right now cause nursing school is sucking the life out of me. Literally. Don't get me started on that tangent or you'll be reading till your eyes bleed. That's for another day.

No, right now, since I don't have time to actually do any of the things that I spent months planning to do with my house I thought I'd share some of my favoritest ideas that I've collected from some of the copious amount of blogs. And if you know me, you know I love me some blogs. Like really, alot. I may or may not be subscribed to somewhere in the realm of 150+ blogs. I live by a "more is more" attitude and so far its working out A-O-K. Alright enough nonsense lets get to the good stuff.

Oh, one more thing, in case you are one of the unfortunate few who have not tried Pinterest yet I HIGHLY recommend you do. In fact, forget the recommendation. I order you to get your tiny hiney over there and make yourself an account this instant!  The best way to describe it is that it is a form of visual bookmarking where you can make "boards" that have "pins" of different things like; food, interior design, fashion, anything! I have a board just dedicated to avocados for petes sake! And your boards and pins are public so that you can access and search other peoples good ideas too. Its seriously an amazing resource for ideas and inspiration about anything your heart could possibly flutter to know. And I can't get enough of it.

And you can follow me on Pinterest by clicking the little button to the left! :)

Thats really just the tip of the iceburg. I save a dump truck load worth of ideas but I figure its enough to wet your whistle for a bit!

Hello there!

Well, I'm still alive here. Sorry my posting has dropped down to virtually nill. But I have been studying my brains out lately and haven't had much time for anything else.

Nothing new to report going on at the house for right now.
I had a momentary green thumb moment so I went out and bought sweet basil, cinnamon basil and cilantro and all the fixins to plant em in. Both basil plants are doing excellent, but the cilantro I managed to kill in less than 24 hours. Maybe its more of a gray thumb.

So to put a smile on your face, since I have nothing else to give you I'm gonna show you these pics that John found and sent to me. We took them around Christmas time of last year when John was playing with his new iPod. And let me tell you...Jax. Is. Hilarious.

I'm dying! I'm having a hard time typing cause I'm laughing so hard.

When he first showed me these I thought he photoshopped him in there cause its so ridiculous.
And you can see the progression of us cracking up as we realize Jax's expression is completely serious every single time.

I love it.

And so the wait is over!

Guess what? I FINALLY am posting pics of the new house! Yay! You'll have to forgive my lateness, what with unpacking and starting school things have been very hectic to say the least. And then, when I had planned on doing it my nose went and got sick on me so I was laid up in bed for a few days. But here I am! And here they are. Just a few disclaimers before we begin:
1) I am no photographer. As hard as I try my pictures come out look as amateur as they possibly can.
2) We have most of the house unpacked but for some reason this last 10% has been sitting around for no good reason other than we just don't want to do it.
3) Its a mess. Of course.
Ok, so this is the master.
I should also tell you all that every square inch of wall, ceiling and moulding has been dipped in some sort of oatmeal beige. Which has its pros and cons. The pro being that its a lot more easy on the eyes than your average builder white/primer. The con that once we do paint (and it will be very soon) we now also have to paint the trim, doors, and ceilings.
As you may have figured out there is A LOT of natural light throughout the house. Again, has its pros and cons. But I'm normally a "more is more" kinda girl when it comes to that so I'm fine with it.

This ceiling, fan? I installed that myself. Alone. I decided I wanted to surprise John with not only my superb knowledge of ceiling fan installation (that didn't exist before watching a youtube video or three.) but also give him a much needed fan as our A/C upstairs up and quit on us for the first couple of weeks we were there. See those windows? THE HEAT WAS BRUTAL! Anyhoo, imagine if you can, the highly intelligent me precariously standing on top of a large plastic storage bin situated on top of the bed installing the fan at night with the only light coming from the M bath. I told you. Super smart. Well, it works and I'm not dead so it worked out. Although, I would venture to say it wouldn't hurt for us to buy a ladder.

The doorway to the M bath. Its framed a little weird because instead of making the entire original opening smaller they kinda did it the lazy way. Oh well. I don't mind it that much.

My vanity. I actually found a cute little vintage stool for it yesterday. Now all I need is a mirror. (and perhaps a darling chandelier!)

This is my side of the closet. The hanging and organization took forever.

Johns side.

The upstairs loft.

View from the loft to the stairs.

The laundry room. And let me just say I LOVE MY FRONT LOADERS!!!!!! They have cut my loads in half!

The "tech center". We have no clue what we are going to do with this space. The model, had a desk and some cabinets installed above to make it a little workstation but I don't know.

bathroom 2. This is all you get to see cause clearly she is need of some serious work.

The other two bedrooms

This is bedroom 1. Which will at some point become my craft/study room.

Bedroom 2. Which will be a guest room.

My kitchen. Isn't she purdy!

The fridge is John's favorite. We must have stood there with the doors wide open staring at it for like 5 minutes.
A view from the kitchen to the living room/dining area.
This is the disappearing wall in the kitchen and our teensy back yard.
D stairs powder room

Yup got the paint samples already hung up for choosing!

The dining area.

Living room. And a pretty good view of our "wood" tile floors.

Johns Den.

And here, as embarrassing as this is, is a video for my loved ones whom I know wont be able to see it anytime soon.
*Nevermind. I literally waited for an HOUR trying to upload this and it never worked. I'll try again later, but I know you have enough pictures to enjoy yourself till then.
